Founded in 2023 by native Michigander Jim Adair, South Detroit Arts Group (501c3) is a resource for Arts (and other) NFP’s along with individual artists and entrepreneurs who are building capacity in their creative ventures.
Ongoing, or project based, financial management, human resource guidance, grant submittals and management, and internal infrastructure support are the core services of SDAG.
Over a 20-year professional career, Mr. Adair has worked in private sector ventures and higher education administration. For the last decade he was the lead administrator for UChicago Arts at the University of Chicago heading up the day-to-day business operations of finance, HR, grants management, and the strategic direction of these areas.
Additionally, he has served or supported several not-for-profit ventures including:
-Executive Planning Committee, 2005 Habitat for Humanity Jimmy Carter 2005 Blitz Build
-Board of Directors, House Theatre, Chicago
-Board of Directors, Access Contemporary Music, Chicago
-Special Financial Consultant, New Music Chicago Ear Taxi Festival
As a regular gigging musician for over 25 years, Jim has fostered a network of support including:
-Musical talent
-Venues and booking
-Tour logistics
-Artist support (recording studios, photography, exhibitions spaces, etc.)
With extensive knowledge and experience in the overlap of exciting artistic and entrepreneurial pursuit and the banality of numbers and policy implementation, the South Detroit Arts Group would love to explore ways to partner in creativity and community development to foster a vibrant and artistic culture.
